Here to serve Charlottesville
As we approach the Charlottesville Lions’ 100th anniversary, we’re taking care to honor the club’s sustaining mission while supporting the Charlottesville of today.

Who we are
The Charlottesville Lions Club is a service organization. Simply put, we are a growing group of people working together to advance causes that matter to us and the community. Our local club was founded in 1935, and we are part of the larger Lions Clubs International, an organization that traces its roots back even farther to 1917.
As Lions, we are dedicated to certain causes that are integral to the organization’s history, namely vision care, hearing care, and community health. As the Charlottesville Lions, we want to apply a local lens to the organization’s time-honored causes. To us, this means working with community partners to create a Charlottesville that is more accessible, livable, healthful, and enjoyable for all.
To empower volunteers to serve their communities, meet humanitarian needs, encourage peace, and promote international understanding through Lions Clubs.

Conduct vision screenings. We partner with local schools and community organizations to provide free vision screenings.
-
Collect eyeglasses and hearing aids. We collect donated eyeglasses and hearing aids to be refurbished and distributed to those in need.
-
Support local residents. We work with area residents and healthcare providers to offset the cost of hearing aids and eyeglasses.
